Our Process

What to expect

Find out what it's like to work with us! We've shared our detailed process, so you know what's ahead for your brand or web project.

The Starting Point

All of our projects start at the same place: the Estimate and the Kickoff.

The Estimate

After you get in touch with us, we will schedule a time for a video call to talk about your vision, goals, timeline, and budget, and make sure both of our teams feel like we are the right fit for the project.

If you decide you would like to move forward, we will email you an estimate (usually within a week) for the full cost of completing the work, and a project scope that clearly defines deliverables.

If the estimate and scope of work looks good to your team, we will send the project deposit invoice and contract. After you pay and sign, our team will schedule a kickoff meeting with all project stakeholders.

The Kickoff

During the kickoff meeting, we will review a tailored mood board we put together for your project that shows inspiration and establishes a design direction. We often look at design examples that your team likes during the Vision portion of our initial call, but this is another opportunity for you to show us other designs you like, before we start on the work.

We will also go over a detailed project timeline and the expectations and deadlines for both of our teams. This is a great time to discuss if any project stakeholders will be out of town during client review periods, so we can plan accordingly.

Our Web Design Process

The Client Deliverables

Before we can get started, we need a few things from you:

  1. Company brand book (logo files, brand guidelines, icons, graphics, etc.) if you have one
  2. Photo library access, such as an iStock account or proprietary photography
  3. The credentials to any existing site, if we're redesigning your current website
  4. The content that you'd like included on your site. We can provide a suggested sitemap and outline, and then it's up to your team (or a contracted copywriter) to write the content. If you know what you want to say but need some help with the final polish, we are happy to provide copyediting support to make sure the finished website is easy to read, grammatically correct, and typo-free.

The Design

Once we receive the site outline and content, it's off to the races. During this phase, you may not hear from us much, but we are busy designing your website and converting it into a clickable prototype.

The Demo

We will schedule a 30-60 minute meeting to review your website prototype. While it won't have any page load effects or animations, it will have your site and content in full color, with photography and typography choices in place. This is a great opportunity to share what you like about the design, what we need to change, and what may be missing. At this point, some clients want to show the concepts to their team and get feedback. We can provide a link to the prototype, so project stakeholders can click around and take a closer look.

The Review

You can have as much time to provide feedback as you need (while keeping an eye on the project timeline), but clients often provide feedback within a few days, if not at the demo itself.

The Handoff

If our team is handing off the web design files to your developers to build the site, we will update the design with your requested changes, create the mobile design, and package the files for your team. If you'd like us to build the website in Webflow, learn about our web development process.
